Vacation planning

So the first of the year is here and we look ahead to plan our accomplishments and set goals for the year. At work, goals to make us more efficient and profitable. At home, personal fitness goals, health improvement and maybe some relationship goals. While important and in some cases necessary, these aren't as much fun as planning out the camping trips and vacations for the year.

We hadn't made any plans for travel in 2014 because of some uncertainty over my health and what I would be needing for treatment. With a good outcome from my surgery and no trace of the cancer, we sat down this New Year's and made some plans. Typically we like to spend a couple of weeks camping, a week at Neskowin and a week or two being tourists. This year will be a little different. Our biggest trip will be to a wedding and a little sight-seeing thrown in. We'll be going down to Branson, MO after a wedding in Des Moines with a stop on each end to see family in Kansas City. Neither Des Moines or Branson is a place that would be a first choice for vacation but with a wedding to go to we are finding lots to do along the way. Seems like there is always something new, different or interesting no matter where you go.

We also planned out a couple of long weekends camping, one at Beverley Beach State Park and one in the mountains at Tumalo State Park. We'll get some more camping in after we look at the beach cabin schedule and take our week there. We have only been to about a third of the Oregon State Parks campgrounds so there are plenty more to go.

I like getting these on my calendar. It's something to look forward to. And I really like spending the time with Diane away from our daily distractions. She is my favorite person to travel with.
