804 Trail

This trail used to be county road 804 between Yachats and Waldport. The trail portion went over a low rocky headland and hooked up to the beach, which became the last 7 miles of the road to Waldport. It meanders over some pretty scenery but also through some residential and commercial property. Continued access to it was granted by the Oregon Supreme court in the 1980's after homeowners tried to get the county road vacated.

The original trail is now part of the Oregon State Park system and a series of trails along the Oregon coast. These are some of the views from the trail.

The stacked stones were some of about 50 that were in one spot along the hike.
Here is a close up of one.

This is a memorial to two kids who lost their lives when a wave swept them off the rocks they were on.

Diane and I hiked the 4 miles or so of the trail (out and back), then stopped for lunch at the Adobe Resort which has part of the trail go through its grounds. An excellent lunch and a great long island iced tea!

This is their lounge where we ate lunch. The ocean view is fantastic.
